8th grader male clothes. Where do you buy their clothes??

Anonymous
My oldest son is going to 8th grade. He's grown out of kid clothes. Gap kids, kids sections, johnnyb etc. I've gotten clothes from American eagle, Abercrombie, and soccer type jerseys but my son doesnt seem to care. No want him to fit in though don't need a fashion star. Where do most boys get their clothes?

He's grown 8 inches in like 18 mo and he's 5'10
He wears size 12 shoes
He's a giant boy!

Thanks

Pac-Sun - that is where I was told to buy clothes for my nephew, about same age as your son.

I go to Marshalls or Ross. My 13 year old loves Adidas, Nike and Under Armor and is the size of an adult man. There's no way I'm paying $45 for a pair of branded basketball shorts for him when I can dish out $12 for the same shorts at the discount stores.

Shoes are another topic altogether (my 13 yr old is an 11.5). We've found the brand name shoes to hold up much better than the others so we are shelling out a decent amount for shoes. But we limit him to two or three pairs of shoes that fit him at a time. He has friends in school that have over 20 pairs of branded shoes (think $100 average per pair). Just crazy.

+1 for PPs suggesting TJ Maxx and Marshall's. You'll be able to find loads of t-shirts, polo shirts and shorts, both sporty (Under Armour, Nike, adidas) and none (Polo) at good prices. You may also have luck at Dick's Sporting Goods for items like cargo shorts and sports t-shirts. For mall stores, try Old Navy and GAP. He may be on the taller side for American Eagle, Abercrombie and Hollister, which a lot of teens wear, but Pac-Sun is a good suggestion. If he is trendy at all (or becomes so), H&M will be a good resource!

Tilly's, Zumiez. Pac-sun, Hollister, and Abercrombie are the store that I shop in for my 13 year old son. He also likes to get shirts from Hot Topics.

My 13 year old boy wears mostly athletic shorts and shirts from places like Dick's Sporting Goods and outlets (Nike, Under Armour, etc.). He plays a lot of sports, so he ends up wearing t-shirts from his various teams as well. The boys at his school are also into Vineyard Vines, so he has a few pairs of shirts and some shirts from the Vineyard Vine Outlet stores. I agree with a pp about paying more for sneakers. While his feet are still growing, the better shoes last longer.

Macy has good sales. I usually find 2 for 1 deals on things like Tommy Hilfiger shorts. I also like Epic Threads t-shirts.

Sorry, meant to say "he" likes Epic Threads...

Target (because he doesn't care), the Levis store (because his growth spurt left him hard to fit), Nordstrom Rack, and http://greenlabelorganic.com/

I have a 7th grader who is 5'8. We buy jeans at Old Navy because they have the skinniest waists and he is super-skinny. He has a pair of Sperry boat shoes for choir events. He has a pair of Nikes for school and a pair of Asics for cross-country. He has t-shirts from Hollister, A&F, Aero, and American Eagle. He also has tshirts from activities that he has been in.

My rising 8th grader hasn't grown yet, but I don't know for how long. We actually did really well at the brooks brothers outlet at the beach. My DS doesn't mind the sheep logo being a little "old" for him (in my mind). The polos were under $10 a piece. But he's a prep and won't were athletic shorts to school - he's also super skinny and I think he's worried they will fall down while walking!

I won't do Marshall or TJ maxx, I need neat and orderly stuff.

The preppy/popular kids at my son's school only wear athletic stuff. UA, Addidas, Nike, etc. They don't wear jeans or collared shirts or khakis unless they have to.
