Testers Wanted for HTTPS Access to DCUM

I just turned on HTTPS to allow encrypted connections to DCUM (the Washington Post did that today and I don't like them being ahead of DCUM). If you want to try it, connect to "https://www.dcurbanmom.com". You won't get the lock icon because some of the internal links are hardcoded to http. I'll probably get around to fixing those, but ignore that problem for now.

If you encounter any errors or problems, please post about it here.

Works on my iPad. I've clicked on all of the links and responded to a post. The only issue that I've seen us that the "home page" link talks you a http URL (which you indicated was a known issue)

No problems here.

I do see the lock icon, and Firefox is blocking some "unencrypted elements on this page" for insecure content. Doesn't seem to affect the content and the loading is super fast. Like instantaneous.

Explain why this matters please?

Seems OK on the Kindle Fire.

Seems fine using Chrome and Safari on a Mac.

It really only matters for posters who login because previously their passwords were transferred in plain text. Increasingly, governments and employers are snooping on web traffic, so encrypting it gives you a bit more privacy protection.

There is a campaign to make https the default for web traffic. So, to an extent, I'm simply jumping on the bandwagon. Depending on how things go, I will probably turn off non-encrypted connections in a week or so.

Chrome v43.0 browser - no issues

IE v11 - on page load, pop up warning that only secured content will be displayed, might be a result of personal browser setting though

Thanks. Did you notice any display issues with IE v11?

I am redirecting the addresses of some of our most frequent users to HTTPS in order to get more traffic on the system. I really want to check what additional load this is going to cause on the CPUs.
