what "good" college did you attend but would not necessarily recommend to your kids or others?

VA Tech.

I don't think it will easily shake the stink of the Varsity Blues scandal with Aunt Becky's overprivileged youtuber daughter.

I graduated from Stony Brook UNiversity with a B.S. I would only recommend it to my DD for grad school (she's a biology major).

They updated some rooms in White-Gravenor. there is tons of new construction since 1989. TONS!

But the old crap is still old and crappy. Yep a few rooms here, a sports field there. It's so very run down for the price. I literally noticed some of the exact same issues from 1989.

As someone who worked at Georgetown for a long time, I can say unequivocally that the campus is a dump. The school is notorious for under-investing in its physical plant. Sure, they put up new buildings once in a while (and have eradicated all green space except Healy Lawn in the process), but they don't maintain their facilities. Academic buildings and residences alike suffer from a myriad of plumbing, sewage, mold, and pest issues -- issues that only grow worse over time.

Yup, surprised nobody has shared this Instagram account yet. A good picture of what awaits the new Georgetown freshman. https://www.instagram.com/p/CTKhM5sAJQ_/

Oh my god.

There are so many posts and sites like this about Georgetown. How crazy they are not to do a better job maintaining the place!! They charge enough tuition.

I went to a meeting there and was shocked at the state of the chairs and couches in community buildings. Legs broken off, so stained you could catch some disease by sitting on them. Really short-sighted!

LOL you do realize that Insta is mostly staged, right?

And yes, there are rats in the CITY.

University of Florida

Get the hell out of Florida people.

And if you have a college student there get them out before 2024. It is going to be horrific for women. I am not wrong. DH family is well-connected there. What is coming from Republicans is scary as hell. If you think because you are MAGA or Republican they won't come for you too.....HAHAHAHAHA

I had a hs friend (we were NOT from VA) who went there and I never got the appeal, honestly. I just didn't find it attractive at all - yes, I visited her a few times (my school was about 2 hours south)

That part of VA leaves a lot to be desired.

The appeal is that it's a good instate school for STEM majors. I don't think anyone chooses VT for the campus or Blackburg

Smart rich and attractive USC families don’t give a darn what malcontent proles think of them. USC is elite and will become a top 20 if not too 15 university in the near future.

It’s loads of fun if you’re in a top tier frat or sorority and only mix with other attractive and rich peers.

What? I see people all the time talking about how much they love the campus and the town.

I understand about the STEM school part. My friend was an architecture major in the 5 year program.

Ohio State (undergrad) and Northwestern (grad) - I loved my time at both but now both are too unsafe, IMO.

DP. The appeal is broader than just STEM majors. Plenty of liberal arts majors there as well, including my kid. She absolutely loves VT, as well as Blacksburg. Different strokes.
