2013 MYS girls are talented but it is by far the most athletic group of girls the club has ever had since 2007s. Many of the kids were from MYS Rec at U9 |
after reading this board for some time, Im so SO grateful to have boys. I notice the difference on sidelines and bleachers too. |
Who keeps track of such things? Is there an NFL-style combine? What are their 40-yard dash times? |
+1 |
what to do at Seattle? is good beach close by?
or it is just going to rain for 3 days ... |
Actual FVU parent-- the fact that no one is talking about the club and team meetings indicates this is a giant troll thread. You guys enjoy your seasons, and let our kids enjoy theirs! |
Buzzkill am I right? There goes the quest to 400 |
97% of the threads are about girls soccer and the parents all need to pool together for group therapy it seems like. The insecurities, paranoia and FOMO are off the charts. The ignorance about the actual sport itself is another category. |
Thoughts on the meeting last night? |
oh troll thread for sure. Dont take it to serious. Honestly all the clubs had changes and this season will be a make or break it season for multiple teams. We will pick bk up the trolling next season. For sure - not actual fvu parent |
Cautiously optimistic. |
Has FVU actually played a game? Can I call myself a former FVU parent if my daughter played for Union? Anyway the teams will be good, but not everyone on the roster will see the field or contribute to the wins. Only the best players will get recruited/scholarship money. The lesser starters and players good enough to make the actual FVU bench will go D3. FVU is basically McLean renamed (yet again). |
Which is weird given MYS players, coaches, and board members will be a minority of the club’s makeup. |
Not a McLean family but the stated goal of ECNL is to get the players into schools playing soccer. McLean has had the most experience and success in doing that so I think it’s a good place to start. In order for this Union to succeed though, each member club needs to feel like they have a say in how things go. |
How many players in this area actually get scholarship money? I'm not sure people have comprehended this yet -- the DMV underproduces soccer talent relative to its population. We're not California or Texas or Atlanta or Florida. Check this list of the top 25 ECNL clubs last year. One (1) DMV club made it -- at No. 25. https://theecnl.com/news/2023/8/25/slammers-fc-hb-k-ge-named-ecnl-girls-2022-23-overall-club-champion-top-25-clubs-revealed.aspx You'd think from DCUM that the DMV turned out 100 players like Julia Leas each year. We're lucky to turn out one. And maybe every 8-10 years, we turn out an Emily Fox. If you're really, really serious about playing at the highest level, you're not worried about FVU or VDA or CDC or Virginia Valor Union United Alliance. You're moving to Dallas or LA. If you're not, then where do you get this "oh, the bench players ONLY go D3" attitude from? |
