Wanted to share my success story; it might help someone...

I'm 40 and we've been TTC #2 for a year now. I've been pregnant twice before (the first ended in miscarriage; the second resulted in DS) when I was 36 and 37. It was very easy then, first time with first try, second time with third try.

Anyway, 3 years later it's been really hard. Unexplained fertility, no issues with me or husband, doctor says it's my age. I monitored my ovulation closely, ovulated almost every month, was on clomid for a few months and had two failed IUIs. We were about ready to do IVF on the next cycle. Husband (who is very methodical and persistent) suggested that during this cycle we have sex every other day with no exception, no matter what the ovulation monitor indicates. It's a known fact that the sperm lives for about 48 hours and, therefore, there was live sperm in my uterus for the whole cycle. I had given up because my fancy monitor didn't even show any ovulation this month. To my great surprise, I'm pregnant!!! We should have been this methodical from the very beginning. I'm not suggesting that this approach will solve everyone's situation, but it might be worth considering. Who knows, it might work for someone else the way it worked for us.
