Learning centers are great for some kids. However, make sure you go and observe the class that your child would be in. You want to make sure that the class and the teacher seem appropriate for your child. I am a teacher and recently advised that one of my students be moved to a learning center in a different school. She simply was not learning in a regular education classroom. However, these days with all the home school models, your child might be just fine in his/her home school with appropriate resource hours. Also, depending on the school, the kindergarten class may be small in your home school. The school I work at in Montgomery County has 12-14 kids in a K class. Couple that with a special education teacher/paraprofessional/speech and language pathologist to work with your student on individual needs, you might be very happy.
