Please recommend a 5 day vacation for us for this Thanksgiving or Christmas somewhere in the Caribbean. Going with a 6 year old.

Puerto Rico. Hands down. The Christmas and Three Kings celebrations are the best. Although the island is in economic turmoil, you can still feel the happy vibe there when it comes to Christmas celebrations. It's definitely not Silent Night down there. Tons of things for kids. Great food. And some great resorts.

Good suggestion. Beaches resorts tend to be very family oriented.

We stayed at Dreams Resort Punta Cana over Spring Break. They had a wonderful kids club. The kids club seemed to have lots of activities on Thanksgiving and Christmas day (looked through old facebook posts to see what they did those days).

Aruba Divi all inclusive. We did Thanksgiving there with our two boys when they were 8 and 11. It was fabulous.

The best resorts for families in PR tend to be the following depending on your budget and what you want to get out of your stay. Top of the list is the Ritz Carlton Dorado Beach Resort - great beach for little ones and the pool too, plus the ambiance of the resort and the spa is outstanding, the St. Regis Resort which is near El Yunque rainforest which the kids would love hiking through and playing in waterfalls, Caribe Hilton which is near Old San Juan near restaurants and nightlife and museums. It has its own private beach and you can easily take the kids to fly kites in El Morro fort from there and also take them to the childrens museum and trapse around Old San Juan from there. The Wydham Rio Mar is also a good pick for families with a pool with a slide and beach. Right across from El Yunque and horseback riding at Hacienda Carabali. It really just depends what you are looking for. My kids love beacha and pool plus a little adventure. So any of these really would be great in Puerto Rico. We've been to all of them.

That said, Beaches resorts are great for families and all inclusive, but there isnt one in PR. Try Jamaica or Turks and Caicos for that, although you will need your passports and for Puerto Rico you dont.

Other family resorts that are great can be found in Barbados, Virgin Gorda in the BVIs, St. Johns, USVI, Anguila, etc.

And remember, if you' are thinking Thanksgiving for vacation, people in PR celebrate it kind of but its traditionally more of a U.S. Or stateside holiday. Same with many of the other islands. Hope this helps!
