The number eight

So many times, when people are trying to type the number eight in their posts, it comes up as a smiley face instead. How can that be avoided?

Click the checkbox below the message that says "Disable BB Code in this message". Yes, I know it's confusing. It's because the 8 and left parenthesis are a "smiley" combination. You can also just leave off the parenthesis.

The problem is when they type 8 and then a close parenthesis. You can solve the problem by putting a space between the 8 and the paren: "8 )" as opposed to 8)
