Does anyone have any experience with this school beyond pre-k? If you work in high schools, how prepared do their students seem to be? Thanks.

I know they have a Chinese immersion program. I went to a private school fair and my husband and I were very impressed by the presentation they gave. Our child isn't school aged yet, but we are considering sending her here when she is.

I was impressed with the Chinese Immersion program too. I had some concerns with the emphasis on testing even in pre-k and kindergarten and the focus on teaching a grade level above which I am not sure is developmentally sound especially for the really young kids. Just wanted to find out if on the back end of their program it works well.

We're in the mandarin k program and we feel there's too great of an emphasis on testing. They do a great job on teaching language, literacy and communication skills. The program falls short in physical social and emotional development. Especially when they are teaching the kids 1 year above grade level. We started in PK4 and looking for other options. The class size, however, is amazing and that's hard to find elsewhere.

What you have expressed were the things that had me concerned when I visited.

DC is now in 6th grade and we left after PK 4 for the same reasons! We ended up at DC Independent . . .
