I don't see any head coach having success there with the current headmaster. The current admin has zero regard for athletics.

Ehh it’s very accurate.

Other than girls lacrosse, and this is due to KJ, what other program at Saint Stephen’s is relevant?

The school has turned its back to athletics a few years ago and as a result it’s not even fully enrolled.

Current admin is terrible

Former saints parent

Operative word here being “former”

Agree. Ince was a key factor in SJC’s best years as a program and still enjoys a great reputation as a coach and a recruiter so not willing to conclude anything yet about impact he’ll ultimately have on SSSA.

There are 4 NL uncommitted kids who live in VA. 2 are at the Heights and 1 is a prolific attack at the Heights, 1 is a better physical player at the Heights but doesn't shoot every time he touches it, 1 is a pole at a public and 1 is an outstanding attack at Stone Bridge but very average grades. The Stone Bridge kid will make an outstanding d middie practice player at UVA.

Even if its his second full year this would already be at least his second full recruiting window. Who has he gotten recruited? I get the whole Administration not being on board, but if Ince has all those connections who has he place or who has he recruited there to make the situation better? Just seems like an easy excuse to blame on the Administration, but recruiting is a lot relationship-driven, and if that's what he has, who has he placed in the last two cycles?

Current Saints parent of two. GI is very nice, but unless you are willing to switch to his NL club, he won't pick up the phone. So recruiting is all on our club. DS is happy with his friends there and it is a good school but pricey at $55 k/y. Just very disappointed that the school let this happen. Worst part is that lax probably won't get any better since they dropped our FB team out of the IAC and kids are saying lax is out now too coaches just havent told the kids yet. Hard to be get recruited with all that going on.

Sssas is dropping lax? Jv, varsity or both? Then why is Ince even there?

Is the sport still support or just not part of IAC?

St Stephen’s won’t be around in 10 years.

It’s facilities suck for a private school where the tuition is north of $50K

There is a reason the school is under-enrolled

For now its still a "sport" but definitely a shadow of its former self when they were nationally ranked, state champions and made IAC semi-finalists. No one who's DS is in junior high and an aspiring lax player would ever consider SSSAS at $55 k a year, no recruiting help and not in the IAC playing regionally competitive lax. Just common sense.

Different Saints parent here. Ince hasn't been with NL for some time now. When he was still with NL, he brought in at least one SSSAS player with a different club to guest play just to help the player get recruited--and was successful. (I'm not guessing--the parent of this player told me directly.) GI has brought in players in multiple grades to this point. The school is well aware of the dumpster fire left by the previous coach, and no reasonable person expects that to get fixed overnight. I haven't heard a single person affiliated with the school criticize the job he's doing.

Garrett has been there for less than 16 months.

Need to give him at least 3 full seasons to really assess how he is doing.

Saints top players last year all transferred back to their public schools for their senior season.

There's one more. The 26' reclass pole 4 star lives in VA.

This is a bogus take and highly doubtful a SSSA parent. Ince hasn’t coached at NL for a couple of years. More likely someone just looking to pile on SSSA b/c they routinely lost to the Saints in past and didn’t like it. Not a complicated situation. SSSA boys lax is down, but Ince is well liked and working hard to rebuild his program. And the school knows it needs to rebuild successfull sports programs to stay relevant which is exactly why they hired Ince. Time will tell.
