My 1 year old cat brings me elastics to throw across the room for her to then "chase" pick up and bring back to me. Surely this is a game of catch?
Anyone elses cat do this? Is this standard cat play? She also does the chasing of feathers on the ends of sticks, for which she likes to leap high in the air. But the catch thing surprised me. |

No, your cat is a super advanced special snowflake. I'm sure it's your great kitty parenting.
(Just teasing you. I've had more than a dozen cats in my life and a couple would play like that. It's really cute.) |
I've had one cat do that, and 0/2 for the dogs!
I am not worried about her being advanced or not (I have my kids for that) just don't know much about cats
We had a friend whose cat would fetch tiny balls of paper or foil. She discovered this one day when she crumpled up a gum wrapper to toss in the waste can. She missed and her cat came up to her with the little foil ball in his mouth.
My cat does that too. I like to consider her "advanced", hahaha. Our cats can apply to the Ivies.
My cat likes to fetch, too. She likes the heavy plastic twist ties that come with new electronics sometimes. The heavier the better, since she wants them thrown as far as possible across the room. She is a weirdo.
I had a cat like that. She was pretty " dog-like" . Very affectionate kitty. Miss her

Our cat does this. She also loves water bottle tops and the springy things from milk and juice cartons.
This is all helpful to know. She has had me throw this elastic about 100 times already this morning and if I pretend I do t notice and have moved on she gets right up in my face and meows
I had a cat that did that. She was awesome (except for that bit about the litterbox). She would happily play fetch for hours, long after we'd get tired of it.

HI OP, does your cat do volley ball too? I was thinking that because we had a male black american short hair that would fetch, but perefeered to hit it back and forth with you. He was really good at it...
