We'll be meeting up with friends coming from Leesburg so we don't want to head south towards Centreville once we leave the museum. Looking for a kid-friendly lunch locale in the Herndon or Sterling area. Bonus points for a place with good salads or seafood, as at least one in our party is vegetarian. |
We always go to Willard's BBQ, but that is pretty much the opposite of "good salads or seafood" and "vegetarian". Good luck! |
Isn't there a Sweetwater nearby? |
I live in this area and that's tough. There's nothing right there at the museum. If you want to head up to Ashburn there's a Pei Wei and a California Tortilla in Dulles 28. Or Fords Fish Shack. Haveli Indian on Waxpool has a good buffet for lunch and also a good menu in general. Aside from fords fish shack you're SOL on seafood though. |
That's off of Route 7 and the museum is off 28. You'd have to go up 28 and cross over to 7 and then go down.. Pretty inconvenient for that location. |
Generous George's in Herndon is super kid-friendly. Pizza and pasta, so it should be fine for vegetarians. |
If Indian is ok, then Angeethi in Herndon is great. Plenty of veg dishes (seafood isn't vegetarian, though). |
If you get back on 28 North, you take it to Waxpool. There you can take the ramp for the 28 center with a Wegmans (food court), Buffalo Wing factory, Cheeseburger, Maddios Pizza, Pei Wei, and Potbelly.
If you stay on 28 N, you can get off at Dulles Town Center and have some other options like Cheesecake Factory, Mimi's, Red Robin, etc. These are about 5-10 min on 28 from the museum. |
Isn't that location pretty much inconvenient to everything? |
Eggspectation? That's were we have gone when we are in that area. |
Yes |
We like taking the kids to the Mongolian barbecue that's in one of the big strip malls close to the airport? Genghis' or something like that? |
Mellow Mushroom in Herndon. Great pizza and lots of other stuff, too.

Thank you for the many suggestions! |
Hot Breads (Indian fast food) in Chantilly. It's a very short drive from Udvar Hazy. |
