Login box on the forum page

The website is using two totally separate programs -- one for the forums and a content management system (CMS) for everything else. Authentication is integrated using a single sign-on mechanism that I custom wrote. While it works when you login to the CMS and then go to the forums, I had trouble getting it to work consistently the other way around. Getting to the home page only takes a single click on the "HOME" link above and I'd rather get exposure to our blog and events list as well. Finally, I don't want to devote space on the forums pages to login box.
