Cornbread recipe?

Ds is asking to make this for tomorrows (potential) snow day. Anyone have a good recipe? I personally don't like it, so I have no idea how to find a good recipe, so any input would be greatly appreciated!

I don't have a recipe to share, but the box mix from Trader Joe's is so, so damn good.

Thanks! Box mix is fine with me, as long as it's good!

I also like the recipe on the Quaker cornmeal container

Okay so there are tradition corn bread recipes. These have little added sugar. They are good, but if you are looking for the sweet corn breads, they will not work for your kid.

Ick, no not good.

First point of clarification -- do you want a sweet-style cornbread or completely savory? Also, do you want corn kernels in it or not?

This site has a ton of corn bread recipe. Add about a 1/2 -3/4 cup of sugar to the recipe to get it close to the sweetness of the traders, w food, store bought type.

I really dislike the trader joes cornbread mix. All recipes.com has a simple one that turns out well

Mark Bittman has a very easy recipe on NY Times. I make it with my 4 year old.

Thanks for your responses! I think he likes the traditional stuff like they serve with southern foods. Now if it were me (and I am not a cornbread fan) I'd probably want the sugary kind. We used to shop at this store called Richardsons Farm when we lived in Baltimore and he LOVED the cornbread from that store. I miss that place.

To the pp who asked if we want corn in it, I don't know? I've never made it bc I don't like it, so I'm willing to try making it either way.

FYI the Trader Joe's one does have real kernals in it (not a ton, but some), and is on the sweeter, moister side. Has a "sweet corn" taste.

It's so good.

But some people like more salty, dry-er, savory cornbreads. I don't.

I hope their food is better than their show. I find them annoying.

OP, if the recipe involves a cast iron skillet and/or bacon fat, you're on the right path.
