Anyone else accepted for the "older 2's" two days a week Thursday/Friday? Is it just me, or is that a weird schedule? We were also accepted to Redeemer Lutheran's morning program so we're torn. We enjoyed both places, and while we did prefer CDS, the Thurs/Friday schedule is making it hard to accept with them. |
We got in also. I am more concerned about the cost. It is is so much more expensive than any other school. I loved it but I am not sure it is worth more than double other schools. I would love driving up to that building every day... I am very torn. I am not sure if it is fiscally responsible... |
Is that the Mommy & Me course? Is that still a prerequisite? |
We knew the cost when we applied and were okay with it given everything they offered - seemed like more of a "school" than the other places we are considering (Lutheran and Chesterbrook Methodist) and had great outdoor spaces. We aren't sold on the Th/Fri schedule and we also aren't sure we need all the amenities CDS provides, though we really did love the school. |
What "amenities" do they provide? |
i too was accepted (not in that class) but at a time that just didn't work for me and so as much as i wanted my child to go there, i just couldn't make it work.
as far as Th/Fri, it may seem weird to you but i don't think it'd seem weird to your child. they don't know the difference b/w the days mon-fri (i presume a weekend day may seem different to the littles if your spouse or other children are home then). it's also been shown that consistency is good for children, so i think it's nice to go 2 days in a row, rather than spread out throughout the week. |
We liked the large amount of outdoor space. Multiple different playgrounds and ones that were tailored to specific age groups. They also had an herb garden for the children to use as part of their learning experience. They had a dedicated science teacher and library which was also great. All in all, amentities that made it feel more like a school and less like an enhanced daycare. The staff also meets you at your car for pick-up. Our daughter has a younger sibling and this is a great benefit in that we wouldn't have to get out of the car for pick-up/drop-off. And their parent's council seems well-organized and very involved. All that being said, it is a lot more expensive so we are trying to figure out what will be best for our family. |
When we were deciding which preschool to enroll our oldest, I calculated the cost per hour in order to compare one school to another. It really helped us compare the different options. We ended up with a 4-hour per day program, and not just because of the cost/value. |
Never been required. Families welcome to join at that age or not. |
