CASA at Sheridan School is much-loved. For a 9 yr old, it covers all the arts and she can choose which areas she'd like to focus on (dance, painting, acting, sculpting, etc).

However, it too is on the expensive side.

There are two sessions.

Fillmore Arts Camp, over in Glover Park/Upper Georgetown is both good and reasonable. They run their camp in two three week sessions (you commit to three whole weeks, in other words), and they do art/theatre related things in the morning and swim/physical activity things in the afternoon.

Camp Arena Stage, located in Georgetown, is a multi-arts day camp that offers classes as varied as Musical Theater to Indian dance. There is a 4-week session and a 2-week session.

The National Building Museum offers a creative arts camp for students entering 3rd-5th grade. The Camp has three sessions with three different focusses: performing arts, visual arts/creative writing, and architecture. All sessions are set in the backdrop of the Museum itself. The staff are all arts educators. You can visit the website at www.nbm.org.

Fillmore is running its camp at Ross ES in Dupont this year. Here's the website, but don't think they have posted the info yet: http://www.fillmoreartscenter.org/campafterschool.html. love, love, love Fillmore when my child goes there during the regular school year.

I highly recommend Imagination Stage in Bethesda if it's not too far. They have camps for literally all ages and my kids loved going for theatre to dance to drawing.
