They said they would need 75-100 additional busses. Do we have that many busses going to AAP centers? If so, would those children receive a bus to their local school instead? How many more busses would local schools need? I do think this is the best path forward as they move to have AAP at most schools but I don't know if it would cover them all. |
I don't think this is relevant to this discussion but my experience was different. I had two kids in catholic school K to 5th, left the school two years ago. Tuition was $9K for the first kid and discounted $7K for the second kid. And it was even less than that when we first started, costs went up a few hundred each year. We were parishioners so that was less than general public. The before and after care situation was awesome. You paid a one time $100 registration fee and then you paid by the hour for the hours you used care. You were billed at the end of each month. So if your kid only needed one hour one day per week you paid $5. (I can't recall for sure but think it was raised to $7 by the time we left). It was open one hour before and 3 hours after. There were times when we needed to use it mostly full time, but when we didnt we weren't paying for unused time. It was definitely more convenient than public school times and after care arrangements. As for uniforms, you bought them new once and then traded them in at the used sales for the next size up when your kids grew. I spent less on clothes than i do now. There were random special fees and more fundraising stuff than at public schools for sure though. |
That's still $6K per kid more than I pay for SACC, LOL! |
Why not? |
I can't speak for other children, but mine would be exhausted by 2pm. |
Because the kid will have started the day early--as most elementary kids do--and exhausted by noon when they still will have four more hours of school. Do you even have kids? |
Yes. And mine went from elementary school (they got out at 3:30pm) to their gymnastics class that ran from 4:00 to 6:30pm. I would've much rather had the gymnastics class in the morning! |
So, you really do not understand how tired the kids would be in the afternoon? That doesn't matter to you? Believe me, it matters to most parents and to teachers. |
I guess it depends on your kids. Mine prefer to do active stuff in the morning rather than in the afternoon. Regardless, it looks like nothing will be changing. |
This makes sense but then academics will suffer since they will be tired afterwards. |
No, I would think that kids would be more focused and less wiggly/distracted with a gpod round of morning exercise. |
You clearly have never taught first graders. |
Your kids probably would not. |
Come visit my class after recess. Kids are done by 3. |
| Have they addressed start times during this weeks community meetings? My impression was that this was DOA and they won’t be pursuing either net neutral option. |
