[MD] Forest Glen quality of life

That stretch of Georgia is just awful. If you know ahead of time you can take a different route so you get get on Seminary, but if you don't realize ahead of time you are SOL.

Also pick with crappy shopping district you want to shop at, DTSS and it weekend lawlessness or Wheaton. Lose lose

The shopping districts all over Montgomery County are terrible. Rockville and Friendship Heights? Don't get me started on the hellscape that is Pike and Rose. They are atrocious and indefensible and all on crazy busy roads with terrible parking structures.

For weekly grocery shopping, the Kensington Safeway is very well run and easy access by car via the beltway or neighborhood streets. That’s been our go to since it was remodeled.

If you're coming through the neighborhood to Safeway, it's pretty easy access, but if you're on Connecticut there's so much traffic it's hard to make a left turn in and even a right turn out.

When I lived in Forest Glen, I used that Safeway. I lived on the west side of Georgia, a neighborhood with eclectic housing choices, both older and newer townhouses and historic and newer SFH. Easy walk to the Metro that doesn't involve crossing Georgia. You can walk to Pacci's restaurant, but that's about it. No Beltway noise if you live on the north side of Forest Glen Road, but the train can be annoying. Otherwise, I really enjoyed the neighborhood.

I live near where you lived (north of Dennis tho) and really like how easy and pleasant it is to access Kensington stores including the Safeway. It’s not bad to get up to the Giant at Wheaton Mall either which is well run and has a good selection. I wish it was easier to access Sniders so I combine my wine and grocery shopping in one but that Montgomery Hills stretch is the worst. I suppose it’s not bad to access it via Seminary though because then you can avoid GA Ave.

Through the neighborhood is perfect if that works. But from the other side of Georgia, beltway to CT, right into the neighborhood, park in the garage underneath the store off Armory. Leaving turn right on Knowles, left turn with light onto CT, beltway. Even with a back up it's a quick trip, also works coming from four corners and using the Colesville entrance. As long as you don't use University through Wheaton to get there, it can be very convenient.
