“Not a Dog Person”

I love dogs and really dislike irresponsible owners.

I had not considered that but that was a very likely scenario. I love dogs and have always owned a dark, I do not like badly behaved dogs that run up to me or try to jump on me when I am out in public, sometimes with my own dog sometimes not. once a large dog jumped on me and put dirty paw prints on my outfit and I did not appreciate it. I am certain that dog owner thought I was a dog hater.

I don’t like dogs. At all. I don’t like going to places where dogs are, I don’t like petting them, I don’t like when they jump on me or lick me. I can’t stand them. I don’t wish them harm and don’t begrudge anyone who wishes to have a dog themselves. But I basically despise dogs…I put on a good show pretending to like my friends’, family members’, and neighbors’ dogs and I always act interested in them/smile at them or whatever. Bc it’s expected that everyone should like dogs and if you don’t you’re probably considered by many to be a cold or bad person.

I don't think people who don't like dogs are cold, but I do think that they are either 1) scared of dogs, and probably prissy and dramatic about it; or 2) have a little bit of a control issue and don't like dogs because dogs are chaotic.

Are you me OP? I tell people nowadays I hate dogs because that’s me . I also had a random dog bite my toddler so I’m scared (not prissy scared whatever that means) and I hate that I can’t control them. And you know what I own that feeling I don’t fake it I freely share it and now family and friends don’t bother me with their stinky loud violent dogs.

This is an insult. I have a dog and I also think it’s fine not to like dogs, but I wouldn’t go around saying someone is not a dog person. I wouldn’t say that because I don’t care whether people like dogs and I don’t characterize people that way. For people who are thinking about it enough to say this, it’s an insult.

I've never seen anyone not smile when seeing a pretty well-groomed golden retriever. Those dogs are just the best. (No, I don't have one.)

Dogs in general are a bit gross when their owners neglect them ex. stinky, dirty, shedding, eye boogers, dry nose.

I am not a dog person, though I like plenty of dogs and appreciate them as a species, because I don't want to be responsible for their emotional wellbeing and find them too needy in that regard. I prefer my cats, who are affectionate toward me but aren't needy (if only they weren't a-holes to everyone other than me, but that's a separate issue).
