That’s the thing about all the israeli shows i watched. Low budget but great acting and character development.

Yikes I think you might have something there, although I don't want to go back and re-watch it (bc I'm the PP who happened to imagine that kind of scene with my own family about a week before watching this, so I was a sobbing mess the first time) But PP, go back and watch it as you might be right. Although I'm not sure they'd want to lose that actress...

This is a debate on Facebook fan sites. On one, the moderator claims that Yes Studios did not intend for it to be ambiguous (but acknowledges that it is) and that the intention was for a happy ending. Some fans thought they were doing it because they can't afford Shira Haas in Season 4. I took it as a happy ending. There are recurring themes in the seasons and it all felt similar to Lippe and Giti's internal struggle/repentance clearing the way to their children's happiness.

I've only watched the first few episodes of season 3.

The interaction with child welfare bugged me. Is it really realistic in Israel that a child would be taken based on a mistake that was really the daycare's fault? And would they have been so impressed by what was obviously a rushed marriage between a Hasidic man and a secular woman? It seemed so unrealistic, but maybe I'm naive.

Once racheli and Akiva got married, did she start wearing a wig? I thought her hair looked different or more fake but wasn't sure.
Also, why to the married women cover their hair at home? Those sagging caps are the most unflattering thing to wear, why would they do that home? or why do they sleep with them on? when does the husband or kids ever see her real hair?

I also took it as a happy ending. I hope Shira Haas comes back for Season 4.

I'm amazed at how well the actor that plays Yosale acted. Being a child actor with a few lines in seasons.1 and 2 does not translate necessarily to being a good adult actor. He was great.

I actually liked Season Three best even though it was definitely darker.

Agree that the boy who plays Yosale did a very good job.

I LOVE this show and have been anxiously awaiting season 3. I thought finale seem more like a series finale instead of a season. Has it been confirmed if there will be a new season? And did we ever learn how Libby died??? I kept trying to figure it out. Did I miss an explanation?

Season 3 is disjointed from Seasons 1 and 2. This is giving me flashbacks of Downton Abbey and how after they killed off two main characters the story was never really the same again.

On Facebook there are several discussion groups for Shtisel that can shed light on Orthodox Jewish practices. I really don't want this thread to devolve into questions about religion instead of the show.

They just needed a reason to link Akiva to his new love interest. Season 3 is missing the gradual build-up of relationships that Akiva had with Elisheva or Libbe. This is a key missing ingredient. They tried to substitute it with the Yosale and Shira subplot but Akiva is the star of the show so it fell a bit flat.

Same with Persian shows. Low budget but fantastic storytelling. Korean shows on the other hand are high budget and excellent storytelling.
