PP isn't "trolling" any more than you are, and you have no idea if they're on a scheduled break or day off - and here you are, too. Does your employer know you're not working and "trolling" an internet chat board? And let's can the expectation of martyrdom for teachers. "Calling"? "Public service"? It's a job not a religious order. I don't work for free or peanuts, and it's absurd to expect teachers to. You want better candidates, then the pay and reward for better performance has to be there, particularly to put up with the asshole parents in FCPS (#notallparents). My kids have had great teachers, mediocre teachers, and terrible teachers - I'd love to see some incentive to keep the great ones and offload the terrible ones. Teachers don't do this for free and the days of it being a calling to serve the children are in the time when men earned more because they had a family to support and teaching was a nice job for ladies to have until they got married. My kids are both in DL, and it's fine. Not great, not ideal for my SpEd kid in particular, but they're fine and we're involved to make sure they're staying up to speed as well as doing some supplementing (just as we would with in-person school). This hyperbolic victim mentality helps no one, and you do come across as a bit unhinged. |
That's what I can't figure out, what would the complaint/charges be? |
I’m not a member, but FEA, FCfT, etc have no peer to make any decisions regarding school operations. |
What is the “Virginia teachers union” -please advise. |
I imagine AFT will be throwing in some backing of their own too. I’m from a northern state and the AFT isn’t a major player there. |
Ya think? A year in of DL with tow Es kids and our own full time jobs and not able to call on usual supports like extended (older family). YES! WE ARE BARE?Y HOLDING IT TOGETHER. zigs been a full year soon FFS. And 2 days a week isn’t helpful on the making a family function past. |
Exactly. There isn’t one. |
For FCPS, it will be whichever registered Union of the three is awarded collective bargaining in 3 months. The heavy favorite is the FEA because they are the NEA affiliate with all the money, political power and organization. It’s like Godzilla vs 2 garden lizards. So yes, Kim Adam’s. |
Then you might want todvise the VA State tax office if the fact that the VEA suiting tax fraud. Because it’s a legally recognized union. |
Yes, the FCFT just gives out tiny Subway sandwiches at lunch to try to convince you to join and the other one I can never even remember the name of. FEA will definitely be “the union” when the vote happens this spring. |
The PP said “the Virginia teacher’s union”. There isn’t one union that is “the teacher’s union”. Sure. FEA is a union local. FCFT is a union local. AFPE is a local. Which one would you like to count as “the teacher’s union”? There isn’t ONE. |
It would be a die in to the DOE Office of Civil Rights litigation against FCPS for violating IDEA and FAPE by not pallowing kids in person for IEP services, when clearly county kids and HS athletes were there doing activities that were as risky or riskier. The damages are reimbursement for parents to provide private hours of services. I thought there was a class action awaiting certification. No? IEP parents would no better. If FCPS had kept everyone out, they would have a defense. But letter the county kids and athletes in has created a mess that will end in them paying a lot of money. But not soon enough to help the kids who need i help now. |
One of them will in May. |
We will see. They are similar in size so it will be interesting. |
5 days a week??? That’s great!!! Maybe my kid stands a fighting chance on APs after all. |
