Is that one fantasy / sci fi? I think I've heard of it...I read all the Song of Ice and Fire books (some multiple times) so I am totally down for that genre.

It's more romance with a touch of...time travel, but not in a sci fi way.

I love the first two but I can't get into the last one.

I loved the Discovery of Witches series. I found it to be a page turner- and I judge myself to be a literary snob.

And I just read Cherokee America by Margaret Verble- a lovely interesting book.

Anonymous wrote:OP, I occasionally read (slightly) smarter chick lit and liked Emily Giffin's "All We Ever Wanted." It's definitely fluffy, but the toxicity of social media felt real.

Next on my list is Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo. It's a Booker Prize winner that several of my coworkers loved.

Emily Giffen, that's the name of the author I was trying to remember! Did she write Something Borrowed, Something Blue?? Anyway, I thought it was pretty good. Maybe I'll look for the one you mentioned as well.

Yep, that’s her. She also has a newer book out.

Nell Zink’s Mislaid is very funny, recommended if you liked Nothing to See Here

Albert camus’s the stranger is an oldie but a goodie, for those day’s when you want to feel a little smarter after reading
