It’s going to be really tough to convince people to keep up with restrictions once they get a vaccine. |
| and why on earth should they? keep up with restrictions that is. |
Because they don’t know if the vaccine does anything to curb transmission. You could get the vaccine, get COVID, and not get sick, but you may still infect others. It’ll be a long slow vaccine rollout, so we’ll still need to take precautions to avoid infecting others for a while. |
Yes! The same set up was at the salon I visited. There were 6 people seating at the table, and every station was occupied. Add to that all the staff and you get the picture. Not coming back until I am vaccinated. |
I can guarantee that this message will fall on deaf ears. People will get their vaccine, shrug their shoulders and promptly forget about the pandemic. They might have to wear a mask here or there, but as more and more people get vaccinated and just start walking into supermarkets or coffee shops without masks, those establishments will give up trying to enforce the rules. |
+1 There are lots of people over 65 just living their lives too! And Congress doesn't want to pass any measures to support young people (college loan forgiveness anyone?) so younger people are tired of sacrificing for boomers when boomers don't seem to want to help out any of the younger generations. |
+1 It is a tough sell- I have to get a vaccine and still act the same was I did before I got the vaccine? Plus you have all those antivaxxers pretending COVID isn't real, so I have to protect them too even after I get the vaccine? Not going to happen. |
| I am more concerned that you have already taught your child to be judgmental and have anxiety over covid. |
|
We live in a country that won’t give aid to businesses. It helps if you rent in Trump Tower. Maybe you get financial help then.
Other countries support their people. That lets them fully close down and a biz doesn’t have to break the law to keep the bills paid. |
| Same here in my neighborhood where the beer place is always full. It's very upsetting. |
I think the people who think covid isn't real will not get the vaccine. But I think some of the anti-vaxxer crowd do believe covid is real and will dwell in their basements forever because they can't handle the uncertainy of the possibility of covid or "unknown" vaccine side effects. |
Agree. How frustrating and horrific. |
|
Sigh, this is why we can't have nice things.
My friends in New Zealand and Australia are living their best lives right now. And telecommuting to work in the IS, because they were smart enough to get out while the getting was good. |
| IS = US. |
Isn't is summer in Australia? The virus is seasonal. Summer was great here but we had to keep the narrative going because we had an election that had to keep the fear porn going. |
