The dining and living rooms I remember from the 80s were much more traditional. Georgian styles, Queen Anne dining sets (it seemed most houses had those dining sets, in cherry if you were middle class, and mahogany if you were upper middle class). Lots of wallpapers. Lots of hunting themes for family rooms. Green and plaid and burgundy. All master bedrooms had four poster beds.

Of course there were plenty of other styles and furniture carried over from earlier periods or inherited.

I feel like the green/navy/burgandy plaid trend was more early-mid 90s. I remember buying things for my first college apartment in 1995 and I bought some place mats that were those colors in plaid...and my bath towels in those colors too.

I actually think a lot will come back.
— the pattern-on-pattern matching wallpaper and curtains from that last pic— I can totally imagine a version of that w a William Morris print in a shelter mag
—the terracotta arch and big plant from the middle pic are already back
—the overstuffed and curved furniture has been back for awhile
—floral and ruffles were all over Schumacher’s IG with their valentines pillows - and I feel like one of the shelter mags recently said chintz is coming back.
