Do any federal employees still like their jobs?

I have higher salary, better pension, 8% thrift match, and more leave than most Federal workers. I'm equivalent of GS-15 in my mid 30s and will have a massive pension upon retirement after 30 years of service.

Really enjoy my job, the compensation, the interesting work, and commitment to work life balance. I could go private sector, but I will be working 80 hours week. I'd need to make more than 2x the money to compensate me for the loss of defined benefit pension and flexible work arrangements.

Ditto this. I have 19 years in, am maxed out in pay under GS (have no intention or caliber to ever be an SES), and am just grateful and happy about 99% of the time. I work 40 hour weeks MAX. Plenty of time to spend w my family. Oh and no debt.

Agencies that are outside the scope of the Executive branch and therefore do not have a Cabinet member.

Some, but not all, have their own budgets generated by fees and therefore are not subject to the Congressional appropriations process. Has a very real degree of independence on its day-to-day functioning from the three branches of government, but still faces a degree of oversight. It's the sweet spot.

My agency was pretty much dismantled by a slick Texas oilman and his merry band if nimrods. His replacement has failed to bring back swagger.
