https://www.gosilverstars.com/File/Rules&Policies_AUG2018.pdf the only things they state now is that video is permitted during the medals ceremony. Nothing suggesting it isn't allowed. (Frankly at SS I think it would be really hard to take a video for most classes from where parents are corralled.) |
Now that is no joke. 100%. So damn annoying. |
I agree that people should jot hold up their screens to record and block the view of others. They should stand in the back if they want to do that. |
no, but the rules are made by the facility itself. If the private facility says its ok to film (which tacitly OP's facility clearly has) then that's the rule. |
Doubtful and I think you are thinking of a creepy guy filming. What if a couple of friends are working out and take a picture or a video of themselves and someone happens to be in the frame? I don't think anyone is calling the cops on. However, I agree that a private facility has the right to ban photography of any kind. |
That's not OP's issue though. Hers is 'being on your feed.' |
There is no expectation of privacy in a public place and a dance studio is public. Other parents do not need your permission to photograph or video their child. Keep your kid at home if you don't want your kid to be photographed. |
Private classes/private schools are not public. |
They actually are when it comes to whether or not you have the legal right not to be photographed. The studio itself has the right not to permit pictures, but you do not have that right. |
If. My child is in that dance class, I have every right to take pics. Tough if you don't like it. |
Is the content proprietary? Dance, karate, baseball drills, who owns them? Do you need written concent to record, share, describe? |
I do take pics of my daughter at classes or activities that I’m able to watch but go out of my way to stop filming if another child enters the frame or to wait and snap the picture when other people’s kids are looking away. (It annoys my mom that it looks like my child is playing alone in every picture I send but I feel better about making this effort.) I know not everyone takes this courtesy but I wish more did!
But I don’t see how OP’s child is distracted by other parents filming unless they’re shouting “stop and give me a thumbs up!” to little Larlo. |
how some people life there life stressing over so many trivial things is amazing to me |
If it is no big deal, maybe the solution is to take pics and video of those taking the pics and video. Post it wherever, with whatever caption/tag, whatever NBD. It won't be uncomfortable or distracting at all. |
