FYI - I heard on the news last night that you aren't supposed to travel out of your own state to obtain the vaccine. The Federal Government allocated the shots to the states based on population.

Just as an FYI (for those complaining about the "no stroller" policy), if you actually looked on FFC's website, it just says no strollers in the clinic:

•Strollers cannot be used inside clinic. You may use a stroller as you wait in any lines outside the building. You will be asked to park your stroller as you enter the building. If you have an infant, you may want to bring an infant back or front carrier to wear. There are stairs in the clinic.

So the only time you can't use the stoller is inside, which if it's like the Arlington Clinic, will be a very short period of time. Most of the waiting is outside.

I hope you are right, but there's no way to really know in advance if there will be a significant indoor wait, is there? Oh well.

I'm not planning to go tomorrow but I have been to the Government Center many times and the building IS ADA compliant. The building elevators and stairs but I would bet the stroller policy is coming from the fact that they can't put thousands of people in the elevators to move them down into the clinic.

That said I agree with everyone who said it was dumb to use that building when they could have picked a few of the one storied elementary schools to distribute the shots.

Yes, well, if they aren't checking Id's what you "are suppose to do" is thrown out the window... Just as is the recommendations on who is suppose to even be getting the vaccine is.

One family has worked out a system where one person is staking out a spot in line and when they get closer to the door they'll have the other parent drop off the child. Officials say that's okay to do but you must have the child in line with you before you reach the door.

The clinic runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

From the news.

The reason that strollers are not allowed is because the line proceeds down the stairs in the building. If you have ever been to that building, you would know that it is a fairly long distance from the entryway to the stairs and it is a long staircase down to the atrium. My husband is there now, but I have no idea if we'll get our kids in or not.

My husband is there now. He says the main parking lot is full and that they want you to park across the street. He says the line stretches to Fair Oaks Mall (LOL). Seriously though, he says that he imagines that the wait could be 6 hours. Another lesson learned for Fairfax County -- Throttle the number of doses given out in a single location based on the number of parking places available!

My friends got there at 6:30 and were behind a couple of hundred people. They said it is very well-organized.

I got there at 6:30 and after it started moving it was fast. I left the building at 10:30am - and when I got in a volunteer was doing the counting and told me there were about 800 people in front of us (but not all to be vaccinated of course).

When I got there there were lots of dads camping and I kind panicked a little bit, but now I think we arrived at the perfect time. As we left, the line was all around the building and then stretching out through the parking lot and adjacent streets (almost at Fair Oaks).

I got there at 6. I was out by 10:30. well organized. Parking was a little difficult, port o lets were a little far, stairs and strollers were a pain, and not having strollers inside/having to use stairs was a pain. But overall, they did a good job.
