SOL Retesting

I allowed a retake of a middle school SOL in reading. My child had barely passed the reading SOL for several years and despite my requests, nobody looked behind his scores to see why he was struggling. The only time they cared was when he failed. I opted for the retake so he could get 1:1 instruction with his English teacher. With a couple of remediation sessions, his score went up 50 points. He didn't have a reading issue, he had a "how to take the reading SOL" issue. I was glad to get him the help before HS.
