To her credit, she posted the video to show how conflicted she was. She's admittedly not proud of or happy about her feelings. She also doesn't condone violence. She is working through her issue which she has self identified. She deserves some credit as she showed courage being openly honest about her feelings. This is the first step in personal transformation. Imagine how powerful it would be if people did this.

The crux of the issue we have with blacks regarding LE, and really all other issues such as education, income inequality, etc., is that many people ultimately believe, whether they admit it internally or not, that black people, or most black people, have a culture problem. Others believe they have lower IQs and are just inherently lower functioning people. And these "facts" are the reason why they statistically are not doing as well as others. They see these views as not being P.C. instead for what they actually are: misinformed at best, overtly racist at worst. It's okay to feel this way, but if you understand what the feelings are, only then can you begin to address them.

Sure, she can hate the police. Lots of people do. She can think Johnson is a martyr. She can post her thoughts online.

I can think she's an idiot. There are bad cops, and dumb ones who make mistakes. Mass shooters, whatever their cause or motivation, are terrible disgusting people. Always.

We need more people in this world like her. She's not an idiot, she's a person who is angry. At least she realizes it and knows her thoughts are not helpful. All you are doing is hurling judgement. She didn't advocate for cops dying.

She doesn’t view these 5 police officers as human beings. She doesn’t view them as husbands, fathers, brothers, sons. She doesn’t view them as little league coaches, volunteers, Christians. She views them as white police officers. Period. She just doesn’t see them as human. In fact, I would say she views them as less than herself.

Martyr is a person who sacrifices something of great value and especially life itself for the sake of a principle, to kill (someone/or self) for refusing to give up a belief or cause. That principle/belief/cause can be good or evil, just or unjust.

If I make a video talking about mlk was a martyr, I'm giving respect. If I make a video about how David Koresh was a martyr, I'm giving respect. A personal video + use of word martyr = showing affinity for that individual and their movement.

A discussion of mlk being a martyr for his cause in an academic/journalistic/etc setting is neutral, as you suggest in your dictionary definition. A discussion of Koresh being a martyr for his cause in said setting, again, is neutral, as you suggest.

I second this. "Martyr" depends on your perspective. I'm sure Islamic terrorists consider the 9/11 sub-humans who killed 3000 of our citizens to be martyrs, but we sure don't.
