I feel like Charles "Do nothing" Allen is worse than Cheh but she's bad too.

Where you're expected to pay for everyone and get no services for yourself.

And apparently pay for a lot of school children in PG county to attend DC schools also, according the investigative series that's been published all week!

And vacant houses are ignored and not taxed at the appropriate rate.

And homeless shelters are built in such a way to maximize profit for the developers, even if it costs several times more than typical housing in the area.

What exactly do you call free preK and before and aftercare? Come on. It isn't as if there are zero benefits to living in DC.

Will these fees supplement DPR's budget so that it can actually maintain its facilities and offer better programming? Or will the fees replace current budget allocations so that the latter can be redirected (or misdirected) into more DC crony consulting contracts, not to mention the $200 cost overrun hole known as Duke Ellington?!

$20 an hour to go swimming? So much for that.

Thank you, Mayor Baarry-Bowser!

So right now the pools in DC are just free for everyone if you live there? How odd. It is pretty common to pay a small fee for admission to a public pool. DC is such a weird mix of incredibly generous freebies and ridiculously high costs.

$5 daily as I'm reading it.

$600 for an annual fee for a family of four. Not minimal. And if you're poor, you can get a waiver. So basically, this is taxing the middle class and those who can't get their act together to get a waiver. I'd argue that those people need the rec centers more than anyone else.

An annual family pass to a Fairfax county rec center is over $1200. $600 ($50/month for a family) is reasonable IMO.

Yep, it was one of the best things about living here.

Well, people get upset when their freebies get taken away, so maybe there will be enough outcry that they'll change their minds.

So everything was just free? Working out on fitness equipment, playing on indoor courts, swimming...?

This makes me more angry than I have ever been with elected officials. What is the legal recourse for citizens here--and I have no shelter near me. The process has been so flawed and unwholesome.
