I love it, but feel like it only works on lower rise pants/jeans. It would look awful on the higher waistline or regular midline pants/jeans.

That’s funny because I feel just the opposite. I think it works best for high rise pants/skirts. |
Me too- |
I half tuck because some inevitably comes untucked as I move about my day anyway. |
Of course not! I do a half tuck, best styling trick ever. Elegance of a loose top but still defines the waist with tighter pants. It is a must if you don’t want to look like a bag of potato of a schoolgirl |
I think it works great on both |
It's usually more flattering for your body shape to do a tuck.

This thread is from 2016. Isn't the half-tuck over? |
Actually the pics above prove that it is usually not flattering to do the half tuck unless your jeans / pants are just slightly loose. Looks like that poor woman has been poured into her pants and all I notice is her teeny belly (she is very small and thin!) or excess jean material poking out. Puts the emphasis on her belly instead of on her legs. |
Interesting. All I notice is the strong horizontal line hitting her at a not flattering point when it’s untucked. Great for a straight figure potentially but perhaps too much emphasis if pear-shaped or even a touch hippy. Also makes a person with a long torso even more short-legged in appearance. But clearly, we’re noticing different things. |
I’m into high waisted denim that’s got the paper bag look with a bow tie in front. Naturally lends itself to a half tuckin a nonchalant feminine way. In my regular skinny jeans, nah. |
Thank goodness this is the only thing you worry about! |
Love the half tuck, especially with boxy tops and nipped in higher waists. As a PP pointed out, it breaks you up into thirds with your bottom half getting the benefit. Probably depends on your body proportions though. It's also referred to as the French tuck, although I read somewhere that the French tuck is where you wear a button-down and tuck in one half of the front. Probably can spin off a thread on that look. |
Old thread or not. It’s called a French Tuck. And is very much necessary to show that you have an actual waist from the front and side with relaxed (non stretch) bottoms. |
Please stop doing this. |
