And if you didn't accept their "offer," some could be threatening. Luckily those days seem over. |
| tax dollars, how many places in ward 1 vs Cleveland Park provide $$$$ from restaurants and stores |
FOR THE LAST TIME: WE ARE NOT TALKING ABOUT SIDEWALKS READ AGAIN: IF YOU LIVE IN WARD 1 AND YOUR STREET HAS NOT BEEN PLOWED, POST YOUR STREET NAME. WE HAVE SHOVELLED OUR SIDEWALKS AND DID SO SAT/ SUN |
There are no restaurants OR stores on the plowed streets in Cleveland Park. It is purely residential housing. Tow blocks of Conn Ave from Porter to Macomb are commercial and THAT is worst plowed part |
|
Fessenden wasn't plowed as of yesterday.
Appleton still hasn't been plowed between CT and Reno. Davenport between CT and 36th hasn't been plowed once. Ok, so these are North Cleveland Park but still...... |

It looks like WMATA will still be running a lot of bus routes either on modified schedules, routes, or not running at all.
http://wmata.com/getting_around/snow_bus_routes.cfm Yet DCPS is saying they are opening tomorrow. While I think it's great that DCPS wants to open, shouldn't they be coordinating with WMATA on making those decisions, since a huge number of students depend on metrobus to get to school? |
Have you read op's post? She was indeed talking about sidewalks. |
|
I am in Mt. Pleasant and I live on Irving which has seen a plow and is passable. Most of the cars are still buried. We walked down Hobart last night which has not seen a plow and is still buried in 2 feet of snow. We also walked down Kenyon last night and the sidewalks were clear. I'm not sure how the streets looked because there is so much snow piled up that you can't see over it.
Don't even get me started on the alley. We won't be getting our car out any time soon. |
If they wait to open the public schools until all students can get there, it could be a few more days. Best to open now with a majority of kids and the motivated ones (or their parents) will make it or make do. |
| So, are we talking about SIDEWALKS? |
Why are you so worried about sidewalks? It's the STREETS that matter. |

Here are links to a map someone created that shows which streets have been plowed -
http://dcist.com/2016/01/post_67.php http://sbma44-dc.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com/plows/ I haven't done a number comparison of all the street blocks, but it looks to me like all the quadrants are getting roughly the same attention in terms of street plowing. Indeed, it looks like several sections of upper NW haven't gotten any plow service yet. As for sidewalks, shovel it yourself. If your sidewalk isn't shoveled, I'm guessing it's a sign of renters waiting on the landlord to do it, or of empty houses. |
Yeah well that map can't be that accurate. It shows my street in Mt Pleasant as having been plowed. I can assure you that it hasn't. Or if it has - they must have plowed it when the first inch fell; the snow is still thigh high in the middle of the street. The street is impassable, even with 4WD SUV. |
It shows the time and date. Some roads the plow could not make it up. These are being cleared by private contractors in bobcats. My street was cleared by the residents. They all got out there and shoveled. It was about full city block shoveled down to the pavement. Maybe you can get everyone on your block to start shoveling? |
Ordway: NCRC Porter leads to Hearst and Sidwell Newark and 35th, the Cathedral schools Macomb: John Eaton But seriously, I don't think it a conspiracy against your neighborhood. |
