It'd be damning if the Silver Line wasn't dominating local news and national news wasn't caught up in the Ukraine and Gaza, but fortunately for Muriel there's so much else going on no one is liable to pay attention.

They'll soon be paying attention. When it comes to issues and policy, Bowser's an empty suit. And when it comes to government ethics and clearing up DC's notorious pay to play political culture, she's just more of the same.

Would you believe that Phinis Jones -- the guy that is up to his eyeballs in the Park Southern controversy, the same guy who can't account for the missing $300,000 in rent money he collected -- is a host of Bowser's birthday party fundraiser tonight? This would be extraordinary by itself, but other hosts include additional individuals who have been associated with wrongful use of government funds. One co-host is a part owner of a strip club that was built with money meant for the District's HIV programs. Another one is the guy who bribed Marion Barry, causing Barry to get fined and censured. Bowser really knows how to pick friends.
