What movie has made your jaw drop that I probably haven't seen?

Shawshank is one of my all-time faves.

Is there anyone who hasn't seen that one though?

Just went through all of the suggestions and saw some great previews! Can't wait to start watching them. Thanks for the suggestions and let me know if you have more.

Night of the Hunter - probably one of the scariest movies ever made. Spike Lee has Radio Rahim do an homage to Robert Mitchum's tale of love and hate in "Do the Right Thing."

The Lives of Others - fantastic look at life inside the East Bloc before the wall came down. And the ending? F**king amazing!

I haven't, but I just added it to my netflix! I don't really keep up with movies, so a lot of these so called popular movies I've never heard of. I'm going to be adding a bunch more to my netflix que.

Well, Gladiator was big, but I don't remember it staying with me. I want to see it again now because I think I was distracted the first time, and I had a hard time with his family/kid/whatever happened to them... Gladiator poster, what was it about the movie? Haunting?

As a parent, I found it haunting because he held his family close in his heart, as did his fellow gladiator friend, despite all the violence and tragedy they experienced. I don't think I would have felt that way were I not a parent at the time. I also found Russell Crowe's "A Brilliant Mind" even more haunting. He should have won the Oscar for that one. I do have a sibling with schizophrenia and found it to be an eye-opener, even with its "creative" differences from the real story.

L'Amistad. I balled my eyes out in the ship scene. Almost had to turn it off it was so disturbing.

It's one of my favorite books, and I was very impressed how good it was.

I saw this one. I did like it but I wouldn't say it was jaw dropping or stayed with me. I also like the BBC version - more true to the book.

Not jaw-dropping but definitely stayed with me.

Which BBC version did you prefer 1983 or 2011. Timothy Dalton was way to pretty to play Mr. Rochester and Zelah Clarke was way too dumpy to play Jane. I really like Ruth Wilson as Jane, but Fassbender has Stephens beat as a more compelling Rochester hands down. (Compare the two in the aftermath of the fire. Stephens is way too flip.)

Both Ed Norton and Kevin Bacon should've received Oscars for their roles in the respective movies.

OMG yes. Ed Norton was scary as hell in that movie. The curb scene....shudder.

2006, didn't see 83 version. Stephens was flip, but I think that also made him more vulnerable. But I do think Fassbender is yummier.

Jaw-dropping but in a great way

It's a documentary.

I was saddened when I heard the director had died. I loved Sugar Man and would have loved to have seen more of his work.
