Loved the show, then and now. Favorite episodes was when Theo got his ear pierced and the one where they set the house up as if he were paying rent and Rudy was the landlady. Hilarious!
Loved Bud, Cockroach and cousin Pam. LOVED the interactions between Cosby and the little fat kid. So funny! |
Breaking all the rules. Rules are for fools. |
My DD (5) loves the show. I only started watching again cause of her. |
I was 2 when it started and almost 10 when it ended. It was a family event to watch The Cosby Show every Thursday. Throughout my teens, the show seemed dated, and I had no interest in it. I happened to catch an episode a few years ago and couldn't stop laughing. Now that I have a family of my own, I empathize with Cliff. |
I liked it when I was younger but I thought then and still do now that the mom was a bitch. |
That what part of the humor. Kind of like Uncle Phil on Fresh Prince. Before the camera pans over to them, you are already laughing because you know that their stern reaction is coming. |
Yeah, I do miss the fact of togetherness that TV shows once had. You could talk to people the next day and know that EVERYONE had watched the show the night before. Now, outside of the Superbowl, Oscars, and maybe the Olympics, you can't find any shows that EVERYONE watches. There was something kind of nice about the country coming together to watch a show. |
Hell yes. Watched the while thing on Netflix 2 years ago and was furiously taking notes on how to be a parent. Fucking love that show. |
Love it and so does my dd8. Might be a bit dated but the themes are good and it is a clean family based show.
She also loves the Brady Bunch, Hangin with Mr Cooper and Tia and Tamera. |
Loved it back in the day. As an AA it was nice to see myself on tv just being (do you know what I mean). Still the show got to be annoying (Perfect Claire, Cousin Pam, Olivia, Cliff and those damn sweaters) and all the kids moving back home but I it's a sitcom so they have to find a way for them all to still be together. My DD (6) watches. The episodes that crack me up are:
1) the one where the snake is in the house 2) the one where Elvin and Sondra announce they are opening a wilderness store 3) Vanessa goes to the concert in Baltimore 4) Vanessa wears makeup 5) Rudy wants to wear a summer dress to a fall party I loved Family Ties back in the day too. Wish they'd re-run that. Facts of Life too. I LOVED that freaking show back in the day. |
alot of my faves were w/elvin and sandra:
the wilderness store that god awful apartment elvin going out for drinks w/old classmates sandra w/the flu and her mom and mil take the babies the one where theo wants to throw martin a bachelor party elvin and sandra extended stay @ home and elvin buying cliff little trinkets |
Hub shows Family Ties - I've been recording episodes to watch with my daughter. She LOVES it. I think she has a crush on MJF/APK. ![]() I also think Facts of Life may be on that channel. |
one of my favorites is the silly episode where cliff dreams the MEN can get pregnant. Don't know why, it just amuses me. |
Honestly, now that I am a parent of teenagers, I like it more.
One of the early criticisms of the show was that the Huxtable family was "unrealistic." I admit that as a teen and a young adult, I was sold and bought that bill of goods. But looking at it now, I can honestly say that Cosby absolutely nailed what it is like to raise teens and it is a totally realistic view. Cosby raised 5 kids himself and he perfectly captured the challenge. None of the kids turned out perfectly or reached the "higher than glory" expectations that their parents had for them. Sandra went to law school but turned her back on her education to follow her own dream. Denise struggled in college and eventually left. Theo had an undiagnosed LD that went unresloved until college. Vanessa went away to college and met an older man and Rudy had her issues too. Despite this great upbringing in an affluent household, life gets in the way of the best laid plans and expectations. The show gives me a lot of perspective asa parent. Seriously. |
Great episode! I still really like the show. |
