PP again - there was a connection there. |
You mean "mow the lawn"? I say yes. She wants him already -- MM is too focused on solving the crime. |
McConaughey has been moving away from the rom-coms for a while. In addition to Dallas Buyers Club, he was quite good in "Mud" and "The Paperboy."
OK, here's my theory -- Marty and Russell caught the serial killer, but then found evidence that pointed in another direction. That was the cause of their falling-out. |
Actually, it could attract tourism for that reason -- it's moody. I think the biggest thing for tourism is to have an angle. If a place is depicted as just a suburban whatever, it doesn't attract people. If a place is depicted as a paradise, it attracts people. If a place is depicted as weird, it attracts people. New Orleans usually gets the spotlight, but it has always been depicted as sort of gothic and dark and swampy. And that hasn't stopped tourism. I also kind of think that the people who will really like the show already kind of have that impression of Louisiana and the South in general. |
Hmmm, interesting point, pp. One thing I noticed in the most recent episode is that at the beginning of the series you think Woody Harrelson is the normal one and that he thinks it's important to have a family because he loves his family. But this episode made it appear as if he is really the loose cannon of the two and that he thinks his family is keeping him from flying out of control. |
Agree. They seem to be tearing down Woody's character while building up Matthew's character. Such great character development! |
What's going on with Marty's daughter? Ep 2 -- barbie gets gang raped and Ep3 she's drawing naked men ... there's gotta be some development there too. |
Eh. First of all, I don't think Barbie got gang raped. I think it was a crime scene and no different from any of the abuse inflicted on dolls. I also think the "sexy picture" stuff told us more about the breakdown in Marty and Maggie's relationship then in did about Audrey. This was not a big deal except that Marty and Maggie had no way of talking about it, no way of processing it because they could hardly stand to spend two minutes in the same room together. Kids sometimes draw pictures like that. You tell them it's inappropriate for school and you probe to see if anything else is going on and you let it go. But Marty was jumping out of his skin. That's what stood out about that scene. |
I think she saw her dad cheating on her mom with another woman, and that's why she is sort of obsessed with it. It's a guess. |
I remember girls drawing stuff like that when I was a kid so I thought like PP above that it spoke more about the parents inability to discuss it than anything else. |
I agree. |
Already getting drawn in to the story. So much detail and backstory to these characters. Here is an interesting analysis from the WSJ:

Bump.
Sunday's episode. Holy crap. That six-minute ending scene was shot perfectly. Cinema-worthy stuff. |
Tonight's episode was hands down one of the best hours of tv I've ever seen. |
We are going to watch it tonight. Can't wait!
