"That One"

My parents, cousins, aunts/ uncles, friends, everyone I know says "that one," while pointing, all the time. It's not disrespectful at all; it's just a cute local saying that many people I know use a lot.

I think we need to lighten up here. There are plenty of things in this campaign to complain about. This issue is not one of them.

You betcha Are you from the South by way of Alaska? If you are being serious I would suggest you don't try that in New York where I grew up. Anyway, I personally wasn't offended by "That One". I thought he just forgot his name. I thought McCain was way more condescending in the first debate to the point I could barely watch it because he was so annoying. Now the whole Palin thing - that is another story. Part of it is because her message/appeal is to go after the "just like me" angle. So I don't really see her reaching out to the groups not like her AND the attacks against Obama seem to emphasize him being not like you and me , AND there is just enough word association i.e. "community organizer" (so are you thinking Wasilla or inner city when you hear that) or "paling around with a 60's radical" (so of course everyone is thinking Black Panthers) - that makes me wonder if it isn't deliberate. Anyway, since I will probably have to work into my 70's the way the economy is going right now, "That One" is the least of my worries right now.
