Yes, I've always been fat. My 3rd grade teacher kept riding me to run faster. She smiled at me and complemented me on my " textured" hair and told me how pretty I'd be if I was thin. I never forgot that. I'm leaving work be back later. |
| Have you considered trying Weight Watchers? I only ask because I am trying it myself and have been pleased so far. |
+1 OP sounds like she has an awesome personality! |
agree |
I think you would be a nice person to get to know. I have been reading DCUM since the summer and you are one of the few posters I would say this about. |
| As another fat chick (5'3 240 lbs which is 30 down from my 270 nonpregnancy highest weight) I would like to know have you always been overweight? If you have, have you always had this confidence about yourself? I truly find it inspiring, and truthfully, I am a little envious of it.. |
Do you walk up to overweight people and smell their vagina? How else do you know about their odor? |
| What were you taught about food/nutrition as a child? Did you grow up in a house with a lot of rich food or junk food? Was food a source of entertainment/comfort/reward? Or did you develop different eating habits once you were out on your own? |
18:37, I think we need a new topic for best post of the day. I nominate you. |
I have, hasn't everyone after watching J-hud's ass over and over sing Nina Simone? lol Congrats! I'll probably join something like that soon, because obviously what I'm doing( or not doing for that matter) isn't working. For a minute I tried nutrisystem, but I think I mentioned that I like good food earlier. |
Thanks ladies, seriously this just made my day

Do you ever wonder what causes such viciousness towards overweight women?
|
Congrats, that's awesome! I have ALWAYS been overweight. At one point I was heavier than I am now. I have not always had this confidence. I was in a really bad marriage when I was dumb 18, and with a man who constantly criticized me for other things. Years after my divorce I moved to D.C. I dated this guy who was an FA( fat admirer) but in the closet about it. When we first made out I felt really shy, and he started asking me what I liked about my body. He then started telling me all the things he loved about my body. I then met some amazing women( much larger than me, and web models) who were all about self love, and against body shaming. They were/are the loveliest people. Being around so much positive energy is infectious. My motto is if you don't like something about yourself, work to change it. Like I said earlier weight loss for me is soley about health. |
I have a few ideas. I think it's because fat is seen as a weakness. I think some people are annoyed that many fat women aren't trying to mold themselves into what is seen as acceptable, because we all know it's not ok to be fat. Or if you're fat you should hate your body and kill yourself trying to change it. Someone once said " never underestimate the huge middle finger you give to the world when you become at peace with your body". |
Sorry I missed hits earlier. I grew up in a house with food from the food pantry. When I went to my grandmothers there was always tons of rich food. She would cook for hours. Not very much junk food, but everything had fat in it. If we ate lays potato chips we would put soy sauce on them. The greens had hamhock in it, the dressing had drippings, and sausage in it, eggs were always mixed with chorizo. You get the idea. As a single mother my mom was poor, and did the best she could. In turn when I went to my grandmothers house I gorged myself until I couldn't move, and would fall asleep. As a teenager I loved that full feeling it made me feel loved, and cared for. Food was always comfort. When my friends visit thats how I show love. By making a dish I worked hard on. As I've been out on my own, I've developed better habits. A few years ago I dropped a signicant amount of weight. |
