The only teachers that should get tenure are college professors. And that's simply to protect them from being dismissed because they write something the college disagrees with.

Why on earth a teacher should get tenure is beyond my understanding. I taught school for several years after I graduated from college. I was forced to join the teacher's union and I resented it. I think teacher's should be well-compensated for what they do. But let's be honest...there are a lot of completely worthless teachers taking up space in the classroom. Why should they be provided protection? If you can't/won't do your job, you should be fired. It doesn't matter what the profession.

I wish they would fire every teacher that didn't show up to work in Wisconsin. For every one person they fire, there are likely ten others who would jump at the chance to teach.
