The moco HS course will continue on with the pace of the teacher. Their course grade and AP test score of two separate things so you can make sure they are prepared by working ahead should you feel it necessary. It will all be okay.

If it's your position that AP kids should be fully capable of teaching with Khan Academy and College Board material themselves, then why do we have the AP classes at all? What is the point of having teachers or sending them to school if you believe the kids should teach themselves?

I said nothing of the kind…My position is simply that you need to relax. It will be fine and if you want your kid to work ahead until they have continuous full days of class again then they have access to the material online; available to all for free. You are very worked up and need to relax!

Says the elementary school teacher who just had 6 days of vacation when everyone around her worked…

Can we stop with the teacher bashing?

Can we stop with the demonizing of any parent who thinks it’s important that their kid get an education? We are not anxious tiger parents, or people who hate our kids and don’t want them around the house.

We just look at the weather and the schools around us opening while McPS stays closed and realize MCPS is not well run.

If you’re going to blow a gasket every time there is a winter storm, I suggest you move to DCPS. They close less than all the other school districts. And they have free prek 3 and 4. You’re welcome.

There’s a pretty long list of school districts one could move to that opened far earlier than MCPS. HoCo, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Alexandria, Falls Church, Loundoun county etc. and yes DCPS

We’re open now. Move on with your life.

No need to be rude because some people have standards for professional behavior and you prefer to make excuses for everything.

Why was the delay posted so early? Shouldn’t MCPS a have waited to see if there actually will be snow?
Anonymous
What does it matter when they post it? Half the parents will cry about it either way.

There was going to be a delay regardless, due to the snowbanks that make it difficult to navigate school bus stops and create challenging driving situations for high schoolers, who need to leave the house before dawn.

Yes, we should all forget everything that happened so Taylor can continue to make the same mistakes over and over again without facing any consequences.

No? Most other places are opening on delay. Just stop already.

To the extent those are challenges, they're challenges regardless of the time.

They're doing the delay so elementary school teachers don't have to handle kids over recess.

As long as there is ice on the ground somewhere MCPS will call a delay. Other school districts don’t do this, but MCPS cries about the risks, teachers unions are happy to go along and the county council doesn’t make them do their job.

Why work more when you can work less for the same pay!

I’m guessing two hour delays for the rest of the week.

What a stupid comment. Kids are not supposed to be teaching themselves their coursework. That’s why we have schools.

You may want to hold MCPS to a low standard, but many others disagree. If you want to close schools every time there is ice on the ground, McPS should open two weeks earlier in August. McPS can build in 8 snow days into its calendar instead of the single snow day it has now

God, your kid must really be stupid for you to be this persistent. ALL GOOD AP students supplement on their own, in every city, district, etc. all over the country. They are students who study without being told by a teacher via emails during snowstorms.

Just keep spewing conspiracy nonsense. The teachers never have to handle the kids over recess. The aides do that.

We are lucky. PG county was closed Monday and today. They also have a 2 hour delay tomorrow.
