For thin moms...

And, if you average it over a week, we all probably eat more than that. This is more of a snapshot of what I do to get back down to weight after eating too much on the weekend.

At the moment, I am a bit far north of "thin" but I don't think anyone would call me fat.

I can't give you a breakdown of what I eat. I ate like that for years - keeping track of every little thing - and was starving, had no energy - and wasn't even that thin.

So now I focus my eating on what the foods HAVE versus focusing on calories. I try to get a nice balance of calcium, protein, vitamins and mineral. I find making sure I get enough protein and fat in the morning is essential to having energy to get through the morning. . I avoid all artificial fats and sweetners - and have found my stomach problems to disapear. I also try to avoid sugary stuff, although I've broken that rule a few times too often lately - hence the north side of thin. If you can avoid artificial and real sugar (not all sugar of course, but the stuff that is pure junk), you will start to crave less sugar.

For me, smaller meals and snacks are also key.

I have found following this plan has made it much, much easier to keep my weight down - and I come from a family where everyone's weight goes up and down constantly.

From a short (5 feet tall) 105 lb 41 year old woman. I eat between 1500 to 2000 calories a day, ensuring a lot of protein and fiber. I train for triathalons as well so I'm working out intensely 5-6 times per week. That said, I could be 10 lbs. heavier and still be a healthy weight. I eat mostly unprocessed food, but I think kashi bars, etc. are great when you just don't have time. We are all so busy. I applaud any woman juggling career and family who can maintain a healthy weight no matter how they do it. It's not easy.

I'm 5'8 and weigh about 118 pounds. I've always been naturally thin but I also don't like to eat huge portions of food in one sitting. I do find that I am constantly grazing/snacking and generally need to have a snack every two hours or so.

9 am: English muffin with almond butter and honey, cup of black tea with milk

11 am: piece of fruit

1 pm: I like to have leftovers for lunch so I'll typically have rice with lentils, pasta with turkey meatballs, or if no leftovers a sandwich or salad

3 pm: piece of fruit or carrots with hummus or cheese with crackers plus something sweet like chocolate covered almonds

5 pm: handful of nuts

7 pm: Dinner is usually some sort of protein and steamed vegetables (salmon, chicken, steak) with a starch or an Indian curry with rice and salad (we eat a lot of rice in our house!)

I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray
Water, Liquid Soybean Oil, Salt, Natural Sweet Cream Buttermilk (Adds a Dietarily Insignificant Amount of Cholesterol)Xanthan Gum, Natural Soy Lecithin, Polysorbate 60, Lactic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Calcium Disodium EDTA) Used to Protect Quality, Natural and Artificial Flavors, Vitamin A (Palmitate)Beta Carotene (Color)

I don't see the problem with most of these ingredients. As you know, ingredients are listed in order of amount used in the product. So this is mostly water, soybean oil, and sweet cream butter! Yes, there are a few that you won't find in the average kitchen, but come on.

BTW, here is a list of ingredients in a can of almonds.

Ingredients: ALMONDS, PEANUT AND/OR COTTONSEED OIL, SALT, MALTODEXTRIN, HYDROLYZED CORN PROTEIN, NATURAL FLAVOR. CONTAINS: ALMOND. MANUFACTURED ON EQUIPMENT THAT PROCESSES PEANUT, OTHER TREE NUTS.

Hello pot. I'm the kettle.

I managed to stay thin until I was about 45 eating the way PPs describe. But I think the deprivation has finally caught up with me. I now overeat all the foods I denied myself for decades and have gained a lot of weight. A nutritionist told me this is very common with chronic weight watchers -- you think you will have the willpower to live that way forever, but your body finally rebels. Wish I had learned how to eat moderately or intuitively, but I never did, and I despair that at nearly 50 I will never be thin again.

To thin moms who eat grilled chicken or fish and steamed veggies for dinner, is this what your whole family eats, or do you make yourself a separate meal every night?
