Spend your time on some of the serious issues facing my children. Tone deaf |
Yeah, nice try Taylor, but you're never going to beat the entertainment on these forums. |
A distraction for teachers grading. Did he ever teach? |
Now now Sue calm down |
Schools closed Mon as planned. Tues snow day. Evaluate re: Wed by 4pm Tuesday. |

Parent: I found it tacky, tone deaf and inappropriately self-indulgent.
With all the things wrong with MCPS, I wish he showed even half of the kind of energy and creativity to tackling MCPS’s cracks and flaws. |
| Will students who usually get meals get meals on snow days??! |

Teacher and engaged parent
What offends me most about this video is that he uses Star Wars music for an Indiana Jones reference. It’s hard to teach your child right from wrong when people in leadership roles like this cannot be trusted to do the right thing Seriously though: People are allowed to have fun with their jobs. Not as good as last years video though. |
They already sent extra meals home and are working on distribution sites as needed. https://bethesdamagazine.com/2026/01/23/mcps-prepares-winter-storm/ |

Parent.
I loved the video, I thought it was cute. Watched it twice for fun. |
Teacher here. I hope this information is comforting to you: we sent home days of bagged meals with our FARMs students. I like the videos. Kids live for snow days and I wish the adults in their lives could be happy for them. |
Which adult said they weren't "happy for them."? Talking about that video |
| When mcps announced that he was going to be the new superintendent that was one of the first things that came up on social media was his tongue in cheek snow closure videos. |
I actually think it makes him look like a dork and makes me wonder exactly what type of person he was in high school. I knew people that did this kind of thing when they were younger and I kind of picture him like them. Most superintendents I know of and remember usually had a professional and businesslike demeanor. And usually upper management knows that there needs to be a division or barrier between them and some other people. Like even if you are the type constantly check in on them and see how they're doing, there always has to be that little divide to maintain respect and boundaries. As well as I question how on board some of these other staff were to be in these videos or they felt like they had to do it because it came from the superintendent. But maybe I am just older and old fashioned and don't get these kinds of things. But as other poster mentioned, a big issue is the time it takes to think of these ideas, making them and the time of the others involved in making these videos. |
