Maret hos resigned

Anonymous
The timing is super puzzling. It seems that they wanted Sue Bosland ASAP, and the board asked him to confirm immediately that he will not longer will be the hos next year. Normally this could be decided at the end of the school year. Also he doesn’t mention he is going to retire, so probably will be working for a few more years. Why he doesn’t continue in Maret? Either they asked him to do something he doesn’t want to do, or more likely he missed the fundraising targets which are very important for the board. They just care about cash and not the actual management of the school.

The strategic plan is for the next 5 years so it was likely commit or go

Fwiw my sense is both. I think he loves interacting with kids and teachers and isn’t so into the public-facing part of the job, and the board is feeling/exerting pressure on fundraising and strategic planning (on a campus with hard constraints on space and enrollment). The school’s doing fine day to day, but the job he wants to do isn’t the job the board wants him to do. If there’s blame, it’s in not figuring that out up front.

So if he wanted to stay, he could have?? I can't imagine him wanting to leave after two years. He didn't seem like a good fit. He seemed in over his head IMO; like he never settled in.

Oh he fired many of minors who were head of a department including the head of humanities he was a Palestinian. You should be very happy! All of the students are talking about it.

He actually is not Palestinian, but he made the “mistake” of going to a protest in support of Palestinian Human Rights and paid a very steep price. A group of parents were bothered by this and decided to make his life miserable. What happened to him was disgraceful.

Dennis was too weak to do the right thing and he got steamrolled. It seems that the same can be said of the board. I would not be surprised if the issues of fundraising and faculty were intertwined.

There was no “pro Palestinian sentiment”. Maret has always been very good about respecting all opinions/sides. It is quite possible that your friends didn’t notice because it didn’t exist. They may not have even been aware of the complaints/campaign against the teacher. It was pretty hush-hush.

So the head of humanities resigned or he also was fired ?

I think the board should also resign. The school is going to have 4 years with a transitory leadership. Thats pure incompetence and not good for any school.

This is despicable - I hope that group of parents has been ostracized. Bullies should not be welcomed or entertained / especially when they do things like that.

Well, the antisemitism report never mentioned the specific antisemitic incident that occurred at school, so there will be always room for speculation. I personally did not see anything nor my Jewish friends.

The actual report conducted by the AJC regarding issues of antisemitism at the school is out in the open now. You should ask to see a copy. The teacher created a hostile environment for Jewish teachers and students. He resigned because he couldn’t take criticism. As your Jewish friends at Maret how last night’s meeting went.

Are you saying that being pro-Palestinian is the same as being antisemitic? Genuine question if that is the sentiment at the school. Trying to understand what happened.
