True but it was pretty dumb of the local cops to not have entered the kayaker as a missing person. They spent 30K and untold manhours dredging a lake, when they could have just run the guy's passport and realized he had escaped through Canada pretty early on.

Disagree. How often is a guy like this going to be drowned vs. shifting assets to crypto and trying to move to an [emerging market] to be with a chick he met on the internet.

Lutherans are really strict about divorce/cheating. If he had announced that he was leaving, the pastor would have been all over him to get him to stay. Disappearing was a lot easier.

Bonus: transferring assets to Georgia left them harder for the courts to access. As for the $80K in new credit card debt, I wonder if he cashed out to buy crypto.
