They expect u Michigan crowd to apply u Virginia after Mich now had ED

Yes, fewer students applying to more schools could lead to more overall applications. But if kids are just putting in more EA applications then overall applications could go down as well.

More EA applications can also translate to less RD applications.

+1

And definitely not enough data to draw conclusions about overall # of applications.

They are gonna be up.

What specifically is going to be up and what’s the basis for your prediction? Application totals or number of individual applicants seeking a seat in college? There’s a difference.

What does it matter when you evaluating from the standpoint of whether college admissions will be more competitive this cycle. More applications to a school means more competition. Period. To me that's the relevance.

What's your proof? This thread was started with legitimate stats from a popular southern SEC school showing a whopping 13% percent increase in their EA applications from where it was last year. To me that's significant and raises an eyebrow. Your next. Show me a populular school that's published application stats already that has not shown an increase? We will wait.

That is a single data point, not a trend.

Where did you go to school? You should get a refund for your stats course.

Not necessarily. A bunch of lesser-qualified kids applying won’t increase competition for top kids.

Right after we see proof of “apps gonna be up”.

If you are still confused about what “proof” means, you can google it.

Anecdotally, my DC applied to one ED and 9 EA. I thought this was too many until I started talking to other parents. I am hearing 15-16 EA from multiple parents. A few 18!! DMV private.

People are milking the college bubble for all it's worth while the money is still flowing.

The bubble will burst soon, as it shows signs already of happening.
