Whole Foods Too Expensive, No Real Savings For People

Anonymous
I like Whole Foods, they have everything I want, the prices are fine for me, and I like doing self checkout. I also like being able to order for pick up or delivery.

It may be expensive, but it’s still my favorite grocery store by a long shot. Safeway is just gross. I don’t get the Trader Joe’s love- it’s mostly highly processed crap. Costco is a zoo. WF can charge me whatever it wants- there are better food options and the shopping experience is more pleasant than anywhere else.

My main issue with Whole Foods is their prepared foods and buffet are stuck in time. They’ve had orzo salad and curry chicken forever, same soups, tofu and boring veggies. I feel like they need to step it up with more creative vegan and vegetarian options bc these cuisines have evolved so much.

I live in the South, and the other only other options we have are Publix, Kroger and Fresh Market. Kroger is just disgusting, FreshMarket is meh to me and Publix doesn't have a good organic selection. So it's WF almost exclusively for me. I don't find it overpriced, but then I don't shop their bakery or prepared foods section for the reason another poster stated....it's all full of seed oils and garbage ingredients. But it's virtually the only place I trust their meat and seafood anymore.

Oh and I hate Trader Joe's...it seems like a gimmick and I got sick on their peppermint cookies one time and haven't been back.

Bezos and his cronies are rich enough so why don’t they pass some of that wealth on to the consumers that made him rich in the first place. I don’t like all the biometric crap either. No I don’t want to pay with the palm of my hand you jerks. Enough already. Every time I would go there it’s a mass collection of my personal data and I feel nickled and dimed. I stopped going there three months ago and now prefer Trader Joe’s. Get a clue already Amazon/Whole Foods! You ruined a great shopping experience trying to corporate market your way out of everything in Whole Goods markets. Sucked the essence of what made Whole Foods great in the first place. Corporate clowns. All you care about are your Hamptons Beach Houses.

Are all for overly rich people who have more money than sense and feel the need to flex their wealth by shopping for their overpriced "trendy" "organic" etc. stuff to feel superior over the poors.

Rich people that go to places like that will never change.

Given the capitalist society, no one really cares about consumers. They do care about "value" for their shareholders and the stock market. Which is completely divorced from reality. More profits and higher dividends. That's that matters.

Wegmans is ridiculously overpriced for the quality - especially on the prepared items. To each their own I guess

Do you know that the choices are not just capitalism or communism?

Have you visited Northern Europe lately?

Good example of what not to do. They are paying and many countries in Europe will break up soon due to it all. Expect another World War over the changes.

So many things on sale at WF this week, so I was pleasantly surprised.

I’ve been forcing myself to shop for staples at Trader Joe’s, but I don’t like going there and I will never buy meat there again after buying rotten meat we tried to cook that evening.

Also going to Mom’s. Love the Conn Ave store.
