Thanksgiving ruination due to shutdown

My usual plans involve staying at home. So I'm good

Do you know how frustrating it is to hear that everyone- like you- is all ITS JUST FINE. People are working without pay. Consumers should be striking but goodness knows Americans cant be uncomfortable for two seconds.

+1. I'm not a government worker but the apathy over this shutdown by the average American is insane.

College kid is flying home for the week. His dorm closes during the school break, so he doesn't even have an option to stay there. He's on the west coast and doesn't have a car, there's really no way we could drive out to get him. So he'll just be prepared to wait out any delays and get a hotel room if necessary.

Honestly I don’t care that you find it frustrating. No one feels sorry for feds. Tell your leaders their tactics aren’t working and just pass the CR already if you find it frustrating.

It’s really not.

Dem leaders seem to be living this on a loop: “our bad strategy isn’t working. I know, let’s just do it longer!”

To those who say they're just going to "deal with it" if delayed......you mentally prepared after this preview:

Um...pretty much everyone who doesn't have their family exclusively in the DC area? Not everyone lives in the town they were born in...And it is a big deal to wait for future holidays--not everyone has tons of vacation time and can travel whenever and wherever...

Have you ever experienced staying home, having a four day break, raking leaves and binge watching TV? Some friends feel sorry for us that we don't have a lot of family around for Thanksgiving, while others are very jealous of our four day break at home. I guess in the early 1900s, most people celebrated Thanksgiving locally and didn't try and travel thousands of miles for dry turkey.

And most people lived near their families.

All shutdowns are always done by R's and they will burn the house down before they will hand over the Epstein files. Why not just create fake ones everything else they do is illegal.

We all know that they are enjoying a lengthy paid vacation, with the inconvenience of juggling finances/cash flow. There are undoubtedly a few low paid Feds for whom this is a real emergency, but most of you should have savings (which will be replenished soon). If you are in financial straits with little to no savings, you are living above your means.

It’s not just apathy, it’s complete obliviousness. When I talk to clients outside of DC they have no idea this is even going on.

Do you understand how Congress works?

The Epstein files were in the hands of Democrats (and one that made an extreme effort to ruin Trump). Do you really think they would have held back evidence against him?

NP. I don't think the PP was saying everything is fine, just that they didn't encounter the long lines and flight delays they were anticipating.
