Congrats - my DD also got accepted today - to electrical engineering. Applied as a safety but Penn State is a good engineering school ( it was Penn State or Pitt and DC picked Penn State, which I am glad).

For those interested, 4.2W / 1560 SAT / NMSF / Very avg EC's

We have been very pleased with Penn State and my kid loves it. He was never that rah rah in high school, but has really embraced the school vibe/spirit in college. He feels a part of something.

He got accepted EA two years ago. It is worth a visit. The visit is what made him chose it. And it was a cold windy December day.

He was ready to put the deposit down. I of course made him wait til other acceptances came in and he never changed.

We are OOS, econ major

Congrats! My youngest DS is at Penn State and is SO happy with his choice. He chose it over Cornell (he got off the waitlist).

1560 SAT, 14 APS (all 5s and they all transferred for over 60 credits), 4.0 unweighted.

DC applied in Oct for EA, and their applied rolling. Friend got their admission (SAT like 1390 I think). DC hasn't gotten notification either way.

What are DC's chances? 1440 SAT, 3.7 uwgpa, 4.5 wgpa. DC is getting really nervous.

I don’t think you should let your DC read into the timing. Your DC and their friend probably applied for different majors or different schools, or just got put into different bins when the admissions office was divvying up the work. They can’t possibly review all the applications on the same day. I say your DC’s chances are as good as ever.

I agree.

I posted earlier in this thread as the parent of the kid who is a NMSF and had not heard even after many other kids in this thread. She has now been admitted for Math, but I sense the timing varies based on random things like school district, major, etc.

Make sure they completed all the items after the application was submitted.
One of my kids friends was late in submitting the STARS info

Wow. That’s great!!

I’m new to the AP credit part of this. What does it mean to come in with 60 credits? Did he skip intro classes? Which ones/how many? Will he graduate early or add on a Masters after he finishes undergrad?

And did he do Honors College? Why or why not?

Think about when you have those APs applied. Penn State charges you more once you pass a certain number of credits.
