Western High School Boundary Map options (A/B/C/D)

But it turns out that was not even one of the four options. People on this board need to start thinking like the board members.

Someone wondered why they keep grouping a portion of Floris with Fox Mill. But if my understanding is correct, that part of Floris is in the Hunter Mill district along with Fox Mill.

People on this board also appear to assume SLHS shouldn’t lose Fox Mill. But it’s very hard to imagine SLHS parents that are in Reston and not part of this boundary change would actively ask Meren to let Fox Mill stay in SLHS.

This boundary adjustment is very different from the previous one where the SLHS PTA took such an active role. I am not even sure if the Reston parents that are not part of the boundary changes are invited to the community meetings in November.

They said that, but curious how they will integrate the four options? Will they build them on top of Scenario 4 and essentially create Scenarios 5 through 8?

I might agree with the IB prep argument for Hughes kids, but Floris and Fox Mill go to Carson.

Meren will want to keep Fox Mill. Fox Mill is closer than the Floris kids that go there. Some of Fox Mill is just as close to South Lakes as Carson.

My kid knew by 6th grade he wanted to go IB (we are a Floris family, neighborhood zoned for Oakton until Westfield was built).
Principals came from Westfield and SLHS to talk at a PTA meeting when he was in 6th that they encouraged students to attend and ask questions. He did an cememted his decision. We pupil placed to SLHS for IB.
I'm assuming that would still be a choice once it's official our neighborhood is going to the new HS.

Does anyone know for the neighborhoods slated to move to Westfields (shown only the Western HS boundary maps, and not shown in current Scenario 4), will the rising Juniors and Seniors still get bus transportation to Centreville and Chantilly?

Since the moves are not yet firm, I don't think anyone knows. I think the grandfathering issue/bus is one of those to be determined.

Crossfield will almost definitely either go to Western or South Lakes. I don't see them staying at Oakton one bit.
