If she's under 13, she can't be arrested or locked up.

Of course, she can. There are junville facilities. https://djs.maryland.gov/Pages/facilities/Cheltenham-Youth-Detention-Center.aspx.

There is also RICA.

All full.

Armed robbers get released to schools with ankle bracelets.

What hell is going on in that school. Someone posted about a staff member getting into a physical fight with a student and now this!
How terrifying; he could die! Another lawsuit MCPS will lose.

An intubated child feels many orders of magnitude different and the tone of the letter did not reflect that (and in fact seemed weirdly self congratulatory abt “enacting their HOLD procedures” and “allowing EMTs to do their work.” Way to go allowing first responders to reach a child with an open skull injury, i guess.
+1 whomever wrote that letter should be fired. I hope mom sues the pants off mcps. Heartless bastards.

As the parent of a kid at RICA—I would not be thrilled if this student showed up at school. However, if the violence was a manifestation of a disability, then it might be the right place. Please know that RICA is a therapeutic environment for kids that have mental health issues and the therapeutic staff believes they can help resolve the issues. There is a required family therapy component. A child that is violent with no history of mental illness won’t be admitted. I know it’s easy to say “put the kid at RICA” but the school has specific admit criteria.

And not a word from Dr. Taylor. Is he waiting for Lenny to die before he says something.

You don’t even know if it was intentional. She could have been swinging her arm with a metal fill water bottle and it slipped and went flying.

Agree, and I wouldn't want them there either as there are a lot of great kids at RICA who aren't violent and need more support. But, on the flip side, they are mentally ill if they did that and require more help. It is questionable if RICA would accept a child like that (and part of me says I hope not for the other kids sake) but they you put them at a detention center.

They should ban metal water bottles, but common sense is don't swing a water bottle, and it would have had to hit them really hard to have that kind of injury, so there is far more to this. It was in PE, so they could have deliberately hit the other student with a bat or something else.

He doesn't care. He justs wants to have pretty PR pictures. He should be at that hospital offering support.

You should write down everything that you remember -even details that don’t seem like they’re important. It It could help Lenny’s family later. Don’t share it here, but share it with your parent instead.

+1 no one will respect him if he doesn’t show up at that hospital.
